“The Shawshank Redemption” star and “Mystic River” Oscar winner Tim Robbins recently told The Guardian that he’s worried about the future of movies given how much algorithms now dictate what viewers watch. And in most cases, the algorithm is leading people to more of the same and not anything unique. Notably, he has done a ton of family-friendly films, including Wonka, Super Mario Bros. Movie, Migration as well as Disney’s Toy Story 4 and the live-action remakes of The Lion King and Pinocchio. Cracking jokes should be no problem for Stewart, who got his start as a stand-up comedian before branching out to television as a host.
Paramount Pictures’ latest film IF is uniting some of your favorite stars. Krasinski produces the kid-friendly creature feature through his company, Sunday Night, along with Reynolds and his banner, Maximum Effort. Like seeing the matter through the lens of children, the point is evident that he is “sick” and needs to “be fixed”, making the specific medical conditions irrelevant. While everyone has their own comfort movies to return to in tough times, Disney’s animated classics are often funny, immersive and uplifting. You can read our IF review right here, but general consensus on the movie is mixed, as evidenced by its 53% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which technically classifies it as “Rotten.” The movie, according to Variety, is also expected to have a successful box office weekend, with an anticipated $40 million box office debut.
“They’ve seen the trailer, and they don’t stop watching the trailer,” Reynolds told PEOPLE at the film’s red carpet premiere at the SVA Theater in New York City. Notably, Steve Carell lends his voice to the character Blue, marking a mini The Office reunion with director Krasinski. Additionally, Reynolds’ off-screen wife Blake Lively voices the character Octopuss, marking their first film together since 2011’s Green Lantern. It’s a bold shift for Krasinski, who’s already transitioned from sitcom lead to successful director with the “Quiet Place” series, and yet, looking at the man himself, it makes perfect sense. This is the guy who started a little feel-good news show from his house during the pandemic (that he then sold to ViacomCBS for a presumed truckload of money), after all. He’s the kind of all-American aw-shucks new dad who dipped his toe into the horror genre, and now wants to make a fun movie that his children can watch.
The series follows the family’s struggles as the owners of a Montana ranch, the largest in the United States, as various others try to take over their land, from developers to the neighboring Native American tribe. The series has also led to multiple spin-offs, including a prequel series focused on earlier generations of the Dutton family. Additionally, she has starred in a number of romantic comedies including Trainwreck with Bill Hader and I Feel Pretty.

On the TV side he enjoys Only Murders in the Building, Yellowstone, The Boys, Game of Thrones and is always up for a Seinfeld rerun. IF, short for Imaginary Friends, has been described as a “live-action Pixar movie” by star Ryan Reynolds.

The first “Wicked” film is faithful to Act 1 of the musical, all the way down to the soundtrack. No songs were cut, and with the exception of one song “expansion” — as composer Stephen Schwartz puts it — the tracks are true to the original Broadway cast recording. “I saw it for the first time in San Francisco before it made it to Broadway,” he says, referring to the musical’s 2003 tryout performances before it opened at the Gershwin Theatre. “Those are like core memories of when Glinda comes down in the bubble and during ‘Defying Gravity,’ ‘What Is This Feeling? The beloved story of “Wicked” has just made its debut on the big screen, and fans of the onstage musical might notice some changes. Yellowstone creator Sheridan has credited Dances with Wolves as one of the Westerns which inspired the show, making it a great choice for fans of the show looking for something to watch—and it just so happens to feature Costner as its star.
(Don’t worry, everyone’s clothes stay on.) There is some light innuendo when the dashing Winkie prince, Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), arrives at Shiz University, and the fearsome flying monkeys take wing at both the beginning and end of the movie. “Oh my God, The Office reunion we’ve all been waiting for is in it,” Krasinski told Entertainment Weekly of the film. “The truth is, Steve’s one of the most talented people on the planet. So whether I had ever worked with him before or not, I would’ve been gunning for him because I just had his voice in my head when I was writing Blue.” If you’ve ever wondered where your imaginary friends go when they’re no longer in your brain, John Krasinski has an answer. Barry Keoghan has been cast as Ringo Starr in director Sam Mendes’ four Beatles movies, Starr recently confirmed during a new interview.

He is ultimately accepted into the tribe and falls in love with a white woman who was raised with them. In addition to starring as Dunbar, Costner also directed and produced the film. As they begin to plan their final heist, a Texas Ranger (Jeff Bridges) is determined to find them. In addition to being Sheridan’s directorial debut, Wind River also shares some of its cast with Yellowstone—Asbille plays Monica in the series. The movie also highlights the issues facing Indigenous communities in America, much like Yellowstone, specifically the frequency of sexual assault and murder of Indigenous women.
And for families of elementary school-aged kids and tweens, IF makes for a simply enchanting movie night. My family enjoyed this movie; however, it would have been great if the script didn’t call for the cast and characters to flippantly use God’s name. I know in today’s world people don’t even realize they are saying His name. Bea awakens in Cal’s apartment where she learns that he has been working with imaginary friends (or IFs) to place them with new children as their original children have grown up and forgotten them. Another project of Sheridan’s, Those Who Wish Me Dead is a fast-paced thriller in which the threat isn’t just violent people—it’s nature, too, perhaps even more dangerous and unpredictable. At its core, it’s a story of redemption, as Hannah is still reeling after a bad call resulted in three deaths.
A major subplot in “Wicked” is Elphaba’s valiant attempt to save the animals of Oz, who are being stripped of their rights to speak and teach by the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum). At one point, Elphaba’s kindly goat professor, Doctor Dillamond (voiced by Peter Dinklage), is forcibly dragged from his history class. Elphaba also frees a cowering lion cub from his cage and returns him to the wild, with the help of magic poppies that put her classmates to sleep.
The film features a star-studded cast with familiar faces such as Ryan Reynolds and John Krasinski. Steve Carell plays Blue — a giant, purple, fluffy imaginary friend, also known as an “IF” — while the voices behind the other IFs include Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Blake Lively, Bradley Cooper and others. All these big names don’t take away from the heart of the movie, which reconnects adults with a forgotten part of their childhood and imagination. It shows we all could use a little support in life, even if that comes in the form of friends other people might not see. One year later in the story of GTMax, we see Michael and Soelie competing together on the circuit, which is more alive than ever. Their father finally recognizes his children’s efforts, while Lieutenant Lucas Delvo, though suspicious, watches everything movie quiz as a silent observer.

“IF” reunites Krasinski with Carell, as they previously starred together in “The Office.” This is their first project together since the series ended in 2013. Disney has sold a wide collection of impressive Legacy Lightsabers belonging to a range of Star Wars characters from across multiple eras. The world of martial arts film is so vast that it’s often difficult to know where to start. Although John Krasinski’s upcoming comedy movie IF is an original story, it’s already looking too similar to an underrated Cartoon Network show. In addition, John Krasinski is pulling quadruple duty on IF, as he stars in addition to writing, directing and producing (Reynolds is also a producer). Following a tip, Bea, Cal, and Blue find Blue’s original kid Jeremy, now a grown man trying to launch a business.
